Great Conversations

I love that O is at the age where I can have a conversation with her. This was our exchange on the way home yesterday.

Me: Olive, guess whose birthday is this weekend?
O: Olive's Birthday
Me: No, it is H's birthday. We are going to go to his house for a party on Saturday
O: (Whining) I'm sad. Olive's birthday.
Me: You are sad because you want it to be your birthday?
O: Yes
Me: Why do you want it to be your birthday? Do you want someone to sing Happy Birthday to you?
O: No
Me: Do you want presents?
O: No. I want cake.
Me: Oh. Well, did you know that when you go to someone's birthday party, you get to have some of their cake? You sing Happy Birthday to them and then you share the cake.
O: Oh, I am not sad. Olive is happy.
Me: Because you get to have cake?
O: Yes. Happy.
